System Description

The prototype consists of an electronic unit and a tracker stick. The electronic unit houses an accumulator, loudspeaker and an evaluation unit. Inside of the stick is an infrared sensor assembled with a sensitive spectral range between 8 to 14 µm. Furthermore the environment temperature can be compensated via a mounted potentiometer. The function of this system is to indicate higher temperatures as the environment temperature while scanning an unknown room. A switch allows altering among two temperature windows. The first window reaches from -20°C to 45°C which is predestined for person detection. The second window measures till 600°C for fire source diagnosis. Therewith the temperature lead navigation is possible. With this tool the fire fighters can easily detect fire sources or missing persons through thick smoke screens.

The main advantages of this system are:

[1] Protection for the fire fighters
[2] Person and fire detection
[3] Higher quantity for more teams
[4] Fireguard
