Positioning Devices

GPS Technology

The [wearlab] at TZI has acquired 2 uBlox GPS receivers. TZI has experience with Differential and Carrier-Phase GPS methods for high-accuracy outdoor survey positioning. The receivers are used primarily for “ground truth” in pedestrian navigation experiments.

WiFi (RF-based) positioning

The Cork Institute of Technology has state-of-the-art 802.11b/g positioning technology. This can be used indoor or outdoor where a number of WiFi Access Points have been set up. Application software and drivers for system integrators is currently under development.
