Firefighter Box

The Firefighter Box is a box for firemen equipped with an embedded system board , the Fox Board and an additional board to be able to easily attach memory cards and sensors and to have a realtime clock. The attached sensor is an XSens MTi to be able to measure acceleration. The box also contains a bluetooth module and a GPS receiver.
The XSens in combination with a GPS receiver can be used to track positions and movement of firemen in an unknown environment to help cooperating between firemen.

   – 16 MB RAM, 8MB Flash memory
   – Ethernet port (not used)
   – two USB ports
   – three serial ports
   – I2C bus, SPI, general purpose i/o pins
   – power consumption: 5V/1W
   – special Linux distribution preinstalled

• Extension board
   – battery-backed realtime clock
   – two RS232 level converter
   – MMC card slot
   – 5V switching regulator to attach batteries with higher voltage

• Li-Ion accumulator
   – 7.2V (two cells)

• XSens MTi sensor measures the following:
   – 3D orientation, acceleration, magnetic field data
   – temperature
   – RS232-Interface

• Bluetooth dongle

• GPS receiver with ublox chipset
