Carl Zeiss ARTESAS See-through HMD lab demonstrator

The Carl Zeiss See-through HMD lab prototype has been designed and built in the framework of the federally funded project ARTESAS. Two different versions of such a display have been built. The technological goal of the project was to build a goggle-mounted, high field-of-view display with superior optical quality in an ergonomic setup.

Specifications are as follows:

Optical see-through head mounted display

  • Display field of view: 30° diagonal (1st version), 40° diagonal (2nd version)
  • Display resolution: SVGA 800´600; true color
  • Goggle or head mount
  • Monocular display
  • Weight < 100 grams
  • VGA connector
  • Power supply: 5V via USB, external battery pack

Status

The ARTESAS project is technologically completed. Currently the display is being evaluated in applications.
