SENSORS
Physiological Sensors
Various low-embeddable physiological sensor modules, for measuring EKG, SpO2, HR, aortic pressure wave, and breath-to-breath CO2 / O2 concentrations, have been purchased and are available for integration into the WearIT@Work scenarios. These sensors are particularly relevant to the BSPP / Rescue scenario where physiological monitoring of firemen is required.
Radar and Sonar
An RDS sport speed sensor from Ciclosport is being used in various pedestrian and sports experiments. This is a compact, battery-powered Doppler Radar unit that can be worn on the belt.
Ultrasonic transducers (both narrow- and wide- band) and a fast Data Acquisition System interfaced to Matlab is available for near-real time experimentation with speed and range sensing algorithms. These devices can be used in positioning or motion detection.
Infrared Sensors
An infrared sensing module with an 8x1 pixel array and I2C interface is available for non-contact temperature measurement.
Inertial and Motion Sensors
IMUs from XSens, both single MT9/MTi/MTx units as well as a XBus synchronized system are being used by TZI, ETH and UNIT in various task, activity and positioning experiments.
XSense MTx Sensors
Technology name and one line description
XSense MTx Sensors are inertial motion sensors.
Technology type
Hardware Devices and Wearable Systems
Short description
The MTx is a small inertial motion sensor. It provides orientation as well as kinematic data: 3 axis acceleration, 3 axis rate gyro and 2 axis earth-magnetic field. It can be connected to a computer over a cable to the serial port or over Bluetooth using the ETH Bluetooth Module or over the XBus Master unit.
The MTx Sensor platform includes the following modalities:
- 3 axis accelerometer
- 3 axis gyroscope
- 2 axis magnetic field sensor
- temperature
Use in wearIT@work project
Production (Skoda)
Healthcare (Gespag)
