Usability Demonstrator for the Production Scenario
Aims of the demonstrator
This demonstrator was performed within the Production Business Case .
In automobile assembly, although the fabrication of body and chassis are typically automated the final assembly of interiors, trim and lighting are manual. The goal of this first prototype was to create a wearable system that supported the training process in the learning island, the physical place where workers have to demonstrate their knowledge and skills before going to the assembly line. This prototype was the foundation to evaluate some interaction modalities with real end users in real conditions:
-
Voice recognition
-
Fabric keyboard
-
Non-explicit or task tracking based interaction
We also wanted to get users’ feedback, preferences and attitudes for several features related to hardware, software, user interfaces and remote support.
Finally, the results obtained had to be useful for future analysis on the impact of wearable technologies in the training process itself.
