Collaboration Service

The specification of the Collaboration Module is a result of the requirements prepared for the pilot applications for EADS and Škoda. The Collaboration Module shall enable the user to communicate using the following channels simultaneously:

• Voice
• Video
• Instant text messages
• File transfer

The development relies mostly on the existing components. We are using two protocols for establishing connection.

• Session Initiative Protocol (SIP)
• Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)

The current implementation of the collaboration modules relies on SIP for establishing voice and video sessions and an XMPP for text messages, file transfer and user presence. As XMPP libraries evolve it might be good to switch all forms of communication to XMPP.

The Collaboration Service is currently under development.
